Hello, I'm Michelle Payne-Gale, and the owner of Essence Photography. Thanks for visiting my website.

Hopefully you'll see from my galleries, that I like photographs that capture a moment - no stiff poses or forced smiles – the types of shots that even the most self-critical subject will enjoy. I also enjoy portraying local sights or subjects that may otherwise go unrealised or unappreciated.

For years, I had wanted to be a photographer and to work directly with people, but after some pressure, I took a detour into the corporate world (which wasn't my favourite thing!) But after taking courses and practising in my down time, plus being given an opportunity to showcase my skills by a great friend, I launched Essence Photography in 2006, and the new Essence Artwork gallery in 2008.

So it took a while to get here, but I now have the pleasure of waking up every morning to do what I love, and making people smile with the results. Which makes everything that came before it, totally worth it!
